Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has been covering the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry was a reporter for wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and television anchor and news reporter who is most famous for her job as a reporter on the Today show, a news morning program that was broadcast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry gained notoriety for her reporting on human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry was born in Japan and educated by a Japanese mom. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. Curry met her mother when she was working with the father of her parents in Japan after World War II. Due to her father's military service, her family has moved quite a bit. Curry was a high school graduate in Ashland Oregon. She earned a journalism degree from the University of Oregon in 1978. It is possible that she created an empathic manner of communication because of her experiences with different cultures throughout her life. Curry and her husband frequently moved, so she did not be in a single school for more than 2 years. She and her husband travelled to numerous places like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Her final graduation was from Ashland High School. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she started her career in the field of broadcasting. She became the first woman anchor for the station at was 22. In Portland the state of Oregon, she was named anchor as well as a reporter for KGW NBC's affiliate. The following year, she relocated into Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. It was during her time with this channel for 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
